Biochar helps your garden by:

  Increasing   Reducing
leaf water retention leaf leaching of nutrients
leaf productivity leaf Soil acidity
leaf soil condition leaf Irrigation and fertilizer requirements
leaf soil fertility leaf N2O (nitrous oxide) and CH4 (methane) emission from the soil

Biochar helps the environment
Biochar sequesters (stores) carbon in the soil for hundreds or even thousands of years in a highly stable form. This makes the production and use of Biochar carbon negative as more carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere and stored than is generated to produce it. Typically 1kg of Biochar offsets the use of 1.8 litres of petrol . It reduces the release of other damaging greenhouse gases, nitrous oxide and methane from soil. Additionally it helps stop the leaching of fertilizers and other chemicals into the water supply

Please note
Biochar is only part of the solution to reducing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere, we  still need to cut down drastically on our emissions, drive less, invest in renewables, reduce reuse recycle, insulate our homes, turn the thermostat down etc
