Douglas Fir

A good tough wood, mainly used for structural work

Larch

Our larch is being removed as it is a non-native species. A durable wood suitable for outside, therefore ideal for weather boarding. Also good fencing stakes and doesn't need treating.

Southern Beech

Again a non-native species.It is good for furniture, flooring and joinery and is said to be very good for carving. Also known as Rauli and normally imported from Chile.

Oak

We're thinning the oaks this year. This is the ideal wood for timber framed building.
